Official names of diseases outbreaks have often linked or named after the country of the origin. Anyway nobody wants to stigmatise any country.

Most of the time when there is outbreak of any diseases every country call that diseases or virus in its neighbor enemy country name.

Like Donald Trump called SARS-CoV-2 as Chinese virus.

but now The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced a new naming system for the coronavirus that uses Greek letters to refer to the different variants.

B117 (the UK, Kent variant or Isle of Sheppey variant) will now be known as alpha,
B1351 (South Africa) will be beta,
P1 (Brazil) is gamma
B16171 (India) is kappa
B16172 (India) delta
B1427/B1429 (US) is epsilon,
P2 (Brazil) is zeta,
B1525 is eta, P3 (Philippines) is theta,
B1526 (US) is iota

 

Dont you think this B2D2 or iota, zeta are confusing?

i am against naming these virus with country names, as country has nothing to do with this pendemic than its leaders who acted or not acted when needed, some took bike rally, opposed mask, went on election rally, asked clap and light candles, instead helping financially or getting vaccine
